Lessons.
I've been teaching voice and piano lessons for more than 15 years. With a Bachelors in music from the University of Mary Washington and a Masters in Vocal Performance from Shenandoah University, along with more than 25 years experience as a performer, I am grateful to be able to share my love of music with students of all ages.
My number one priority is creating a safe, comfortable space for my students. It's very difficult to make progress without openness from your teacher. I like to explore a whole range of sounds in my studio. Our vocal folds can produce so many different pitches and timbres, it would be a shame not to try them all!
The basics of singing are the same no matter the style; finding the posture and muscular engagement to breathe freely and sustain sound from the larynx requires regular practice and feedback from a supportive teacher.
Your voice is unlike any other. I have no desire to try and fit you into a particular mold of singer; instead I want to help you understand what others hear when you sing so you can feel like you are master of your own sound.
Whether you are preparing for a big audition or performing with an ensemble or just looking to keep your cognitive abilities sharp, I would be honored to help you learn to make the most of your innate abilities and connect to your artistic side.
